The school

Fellaskóli is a comprehensive primary school. The school has about 360 students. Each grade is one group, often divided into smaller groups. Fellaskóli is working on changes in the school operations in line with Reykjavík City's Education Policy. The project is called "The Dream School - Fellaskóli." Its objective is enhancing Icelandic proficiency and student achievement, as well as boosting their self-esteem and independence, so they can realize their dreams. The guiding themes in schooling include language and literacy, formative learning, music, and creative education.

We encourage the overall development and education of everyone and promote positive student behavior in line with the educational approach of positive discipline. The school operates a special education program, meant for children with an autism spectrum diagnosis. The school's motto is respect, responsibility, kindness. The future vision of the school is for everyone to feel they belong. The school believes that cultural diversity enriches the school operations, and importance is placed on respect for individual origin and culture.

Recreation

Students in 1st and 2nd grade participate in integrated school and recreational activities until 3:40 p.m. Afterward, there is the option to enroll children in the after-school program until 5 p.m. Third- and fourth-grade students can participate in the recreational activities at Hraunheimar which is a joint after-school program for Fellaskóli and Hólabrekkuskóli and the youth center Hundrað&ellefu offers a wide range of entertaining activities for children and adolescents.

School council

Primary schools must have an active school council that serves as a forum for consultation between the principal and the school community on the school operation. The main role of the school council is to be a forum for all representatives of the school community to consult on school matters.

Primary school meals

School meals are free, but it's important for the school to maintain oversight, keep track of allergy and intolerance information, and limit food waste. Students must register for the school lunch program as before.

Students registered last year will be automatically enrolled. Others need to register. Change the registration at matur.vala.is.

Parent cooperation

We are all in this together, and as the proverb goes it takes a village to raise a child.

Reykjavík City schools make targeted efforts to consult with parents and enhance their involvement in schooling.

Every Reykjavík City school has an active parent association.

School rules

Each primary school must set school rules that must be followed. They apply everywhere students are on behalf of the school.

School evaluation

The goal of evaluating and monitoring quality is to provide insight into schooling, its outcomes, and its development.

Fellaskóli school catchment

Reykjavík has many school catchments, and the child's registered address determines their catchment school.

Your child gets priority in their catchment school. Nevertheless, all parents have the choice to apply to any school in the city for their children according to the rules on school catchments, applications, and admission.

Here is information on which streets belong to Fellaskóli's school catchment.
